When these Cowboys ride for the Brand, they have been outfitted by the best in the business. Oklahoma State and Nike have partnered to create some of the coolest uniforms in football, with a seemingly endless number of combinations to choose from.
Oklahoma State has emerged as one of the nation’s elite football programs under head coach Mike Gundy. The Cowboys have advanced to eight consecutive bowls including the program's first-ever BCS appearance in 2011. OSU is coming off a Cotton Bowl appearance and enters the 2014 season with high expectations.
The Cowboys have recorded three double-digit win seasons in the last four years. OSU had a historical 2011 campaign that featured OSU's first-ever Big 12 Championship, a school record 12 wins, two first-round draft picks, six All-Americans and being ranked nationally in the Top 10 the entire season. The eyes of the college football nation focused on Oklahoma State and the national spotlight shined on Stillwater.
The Oklahoma State program has won an amazing 50 games over the last five years and has made 11 bowl appearances in the last 12 seasons. OSU has produced six first-round NFL draft picks since 2009. Numerous Cowboys have earned national awards over the years. Justin Blackmon won back-to-back Biletnikoff Awards as the nation's best receiver playing for OSU in 2010 and 2011 and was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars fifth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. Hall of Fame running backs Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas made their marks on the game right here at Oklahoma State. Dallas Cowboy kicker and former OSU standout Dan Bailey captured the 2010 Lou Groza Award for the nation’s top kick. In 2008, Matt Fodge won the Ray Guy Award for the nation’s top punter.
OSU produced the 1988 Heisman Trophy winner when Sanders re-wrote the NCAA record books. Sanders, who was featured on the 2013 EA Sports NCAA Football video game cover, went on to become one of the greatest backs to ever play the game. The Cowboys have played in 24 bowls dating back to their first appearance against TCU in the 1945 Cotton Bowl.
From his playing days in the late 1980s to his outstanding coaching career, Mike Gundy has had the greatest impact on Oklahoma State football of any individual. His nearly 25 years of dedicated service and commitment to OSU have made him a true Cowboy. In 2011, Gundy signed a lifetime contract with the program to secure his future in Stillwater.
